Nordstil to take place September 2020; Tendence follows summer 2021

The green light has been given by the authorities of Hamburg: Nordstil will be held from 5 to 7 September 2020 in Hamburg. In Germany, the first order date for the consumer goods industry since the outbreak of the pandemic is set. Due to Corona, the popular order platform will take place without special presentations and complementary programmes this year. Tendence will be held in the summer of 2021, in the temporal proximity of the first Frankfurt Fashion Week. The Frankfurt Fashion Week will celebrate its premiere event next year when the fashion fairs move from Berlin to Frankfurt.

Nordstil will take place in Hamburg from 5 to 7 September 2020, marking the start of the first regional consumer goods fairs since the outbreak of the pandemic. The way for this positive turnaround was paved by decisive decisions taken by the German federal government and the local authorities. As a consequence, the implementation of trade fairs falls under the responsibility of Germany‘s individual federal states. Thanks to a sophisticated safety and hygiene concept, the prerequisites for holding Nordstil have been met.

“Trade fairs are crucial business platforms for economic development, especially in these times. We are therefore very pleased about the green light given by the authorities and the precedence of trade fairs over other major events. Even though Nordstil will have to do without any special presentations and complementary programmes this year due to health and safety requirements, we are able to provide the consumer goods industry with this first and urgently needed event in just three months“, says Stephan Kurzawski, Senior Vice President of Messe Frankfurt Exhibition. Philipp Ferger, Group Show Director of Nordstil and Tendence, says: “Throughout the decision-making process, the Nordstil team was in close contact with trade associations and exhibitors. The positive feedback on the final decision in favour of Nordstil shows the high demand of the industry to place orders after months of trade fair cancellations and, in particular, to make new contacts again through personal interaction.“

The next edition of Tendence will be postponed until summer 2021. Holding Tendence close to Frankfurt Fashion Week offers the best conditions for a conceptual relaunch of an event format in the lifestyle sector. “It is precisely for this reason that we have decided to put all our energy into this relaunch instead of concentrating on an edition of Tendence this year, which is only partially desired by the sector and, due to Corona, would have been significantly reduced in scope“, continues Ferger.
