Events industry launches Project Confidence

Launched by the Event Industry Alliance (EIA), Project Confidence is a cross-association working group designed to inform event organisers, venues and suppliers as they wait for government go-ahead on the return of exhibitions

The EIA – a collective of the Association of Event Organisers, Association of Event Venues and the Event Services Supplier Association – aims to reassure clients that they are working hard to get events back in business. The associations have been lobbying government during the Covid-19 crisis and planning how events could now run and operate safely.

Kate Simpson, marketing and communications director at the Business Design Centre in London, told publication Exhibition World: ‘Project Confidence is a key step in providing reassurance to all those who attend and participate in events, that we collectively as venues, organisers and suppliers, are doing everything we can to create safe spaces for people to meet again.’

On 23 June 2020, the Prime Minister announced further easements of the coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions as part of Step Three of the government’s plan to return life to as near normal. In addition, all businesses and venues can reopen from this Saturday, 4 July, except for a list that includes exhibition or conference centres which must remain closed for events such as exhibitions or conferences, ‘other than for those who work for the business or organisation who run the venue’. Other businesses that must remain closed in law include nightclubs, spas, swimming pools and indoor play areas. You can read the official government guidance HERE
