Victoria Eggs – yes, that’s her real name – creates fun and playful homeware and gifts, all proudly made in Britain. We catch up with Victoria herself to learn more
Victoria, for those who don’t know your brand, what makes it so special? We create stylish and charming homeware and gifts, designed to bring a smile to your face. The illustrations are packed full of sentiment and nostalgia and all our products are proudly Made in Britain and socially conscious; using environmentally friendly practices, sustainable supply chains and recyclable packaging.Â
What’s the story behind the company? I had just returned from a year of working in Sydney for fashion brand Ben Sherman and had developed a portfolio of British-inspired designs. I’d always wanted to run my own business and love designing. Whilst drawing a teacup and saucer one day, I realised that something so simple could transport you to your favourite place in a flash! It was then that I decided to take the leap and create a range of British-inspired and made, homeware and gifts that I soon began selling on Spitalfields Market in London.Â
What’s the ideal retail environment for Victoria Eggs? Our products have the most impact in stores when displayed as a collection, showcasing a particular design or theme to create a brand story.Â
Is there a typical customer? We are often surprised at how broad our customer base is. Our range of designs and products are varied; from bold London buses to delicate wildlife, and fine bone china baubles to children’s aprons. There’s something for everyone.Â
How’s the past year been? We’ve faced many challenges since March 2020 due to Covid-19 and we have had to make some huge changes to the business. The pandemic and lockdown forced consumers to buy online and in turn we have seen an increase in online sales with far more orders than ever before being sent directly to friends and family, with heartwarming gift notes attached to them.
Any ranges that have done particularly well? We recently launched the new Wildlife in Spring collection for SS21, and have been blown away by the positive reactions. The timeless floral pattern highlights a nostalgic and hopeful view of this blossoming time of year, filled with wildlife and budding blossom and aims to put a spring in your step.
Available in muted tones of vintage blue, the range includes a canvas bag, apron, oven glove, tea towel, set of four coasters, two mugs, tea and biscuits, all proudly designed and made in the UK. It is already proving popular online and we have no doubt it will sell just as well in stores.
Any special offers/services for new clients? We appreciate it has been a really difficult year and we want to support retailers as best we can. We are continuing to offer no minimum on repeat orders and free UK shipping on orders over £100 until 31 May. We would also like to offer any Gifts Today readers 5% off by using code ‘giftstoday’ at the checkout on our trade site or when ordering directly with us.
