Well known for predicting commercial trends in gifts, housewares and small domestic electricals, The Exclusively Show – which takes place on June 14 and June 15 at the Business Design Centre in London – looks set to do so again in 2022.

Working with trend forecaster Scarlet Opus, the show will include trend talks, trend tours for buyers, and displays of exhibitors’ products pre-selected for being particularly in tune with themes and styles which will prove popular in 2022, 2023 and beyond.

As exhibitors were invited to submit product for the displays in the Exclusively briefing meeting, Scarlet Opus director Phil Pond has given a sneak preview of the Homestead trend, which is already coming through in 2022 and is projected to be around for three to five years.
Homestead focuses on consumers wanting to create their own private worlds and bring the outside inside. Dark wood surfaces stand out against a backdrop of cool, earthy tones and textures to create a sophisticated but almost cottage-like contrast. The look is all about the cosy effect – retreating into personal safe space, away from the world but retaining connection with the outdoors and nature.

With a neutral palette still being one of the bigger driving forces of this trend, light, minimalist tones give way to bolder shades of earthy browns and greens, with sable woods like mahogany and walnut adding not only a sensuous, dark luxuriance but raw, ambient textures such as stone and rock.

Products that will work with Homestead will be popular in both the main exhibition and the Brand Showcase: the media-friendly edit of the main show which attracts some 250 press, bloggers and influencers.

The Gift Fair

“It’s great for both exhibitors and visitors to get some preview insights into the top trends for the next few years ahead of the event itself”

Will Jones, chair of Exclusively and chief operating officer of BHETA

Will Jones, chair of Exclusively and chief operating officer of BHETA (British Home Enhancement Trade Association) which owns the exhibition, commented: “It’s great for both exhibitors and visitors to get some preview insights into the top trends for the next few years ahead of the event itself. It ensures that Exclusively is, as ever, a real showcase of the very best and most current housewares, gift and small domestic electrical products in the industry. Which is exactly why the show is such a big draw for the top buyers from all the multiples and garden centres, and visitors from many of the nation’s independent stores specialising in gift, cook, and dine.”
