Gifts Today talks to Liga Oenema and Maj-Britt Maul, members of Bloomingville’s Sales Support Team, in advance of the brand exhibiting at Spring Fair
Why are you exhibiting at Spring Fair?
Liga: Our business in the UK has been growing fast and we wish for this to continue. Our country manager Simon Pykett and his sales team have opened many new accounts in the past few years, but we believe this show is a great way to reach out to more who may be, as yet, unknown to us.
It’s also a great way for existing accounts to see more of the collection without the need to travel to Denmark – though, of course, our door is always open.
Is this your first time at Spring Fair?
Maj-Britt: No, we attended in 2022 and were overwhelmed by its success. We exceeded all expectations and were busy from the moment it opened until the end.
We met many new faces and what was really satisfying was the level of repeat business from orders placed at the show. It follows a trend that retailers who make a purchase from Bloomingville always come back for more. Bloomingville products sell very well in the UK.
How is your team set up in the UK?
Liga: We have a full team of sales agents, managed by Simon, who also looks after national accounts. He recently recruited a new agent to assist in business development, so now we have eight in the team – plus me and Maj-Britt in sales support in Denmark. We will all be at Spring Fair
Will you be offering any incentives for orders placed at Spring Fair?
Maj-Britt: Yes, indeed. We are always surprised at how many orders come in after the show, but we will certainly make it beneficial to place firm orders in Birmingham.
You deliver from your warehouse in Denmark. How well has this worked since the UK left the EU?
Liga: To be honest, we don’t even discuss this any more. Of course it was a challenge in the beginning, but once we made the decision to manage the whole process for our customers and pay the tariffs, our deliveries to the UK are trouble-free.
Will there be any new products at the show?
Maj-Britt: Very much so. We have almost 600 new items in the Spring Summer 2023 collection and Spring Fair is a wonderful opportunity to see them for the first time.
Many of the new products are in what we call our ‘entry price point’ category: that is to say, smaller pick-up items which are easily affordable – which is important in the current trading environment.
