Yarnton Home & Garden has appointed Glen Sheldrake to the role of managing director of the independent garden and home store.
Glen previously worked at Burford Garden Company as operations director, where he played a pivotal role in its success. Prior to that, Glen cut his professional teeth at several large multi-site garden centre businesses. He brings to Yarnton Home & Garden a wealth of knowledge and experience from across the gardening industry.
When asked what attracted him to the role, Glen commented: “The potential of the business. Yarnton Home & Garden has been undergoing a huge transition over the past four years and has come a long way. I’m delighted to work with the team to help reach its full potential.
“I believe independent garden centres have an opportunity to retail in a unique and exciting way. Yarnton Home & Garden is exciting because it has set its stall as the garden centre which does things differently, and I’m looking forward to delivering a retail space that has sustainability, creativity, and a desire to create the best possible retail space for customers at its core.”
Yarnton Home & Garden is based just north of Oxford, close to Woodstock and the surrounding Cotswolds. It was founded over 50 years ago as Yarnton Nurseries Garden Centre by twin brothers Richard and Nigel Wallbridge. In 2016 the centre was acquired by investors and the rebrand to Yarnton Home & Garden began.
Today, it is an award-winning business garden and home store with an indoor and outdoor Plants Department, Garden Shop and Garden Furniture Showroom, alongside a Home Department, Food Hall, Toy Shop and Boutique. On site there is a Magic Garden soft play area and café. It is also host to some concessions such as Yarnton Antiques Centre, as well as The Village Refill, which offers a zero-waste shopping experience.
