High quality giftware, home accessories and driftwood-style furniture company, Makasi Imports, now has a team of more than 40 people based in the UK and Indonesia.
As the firm’s presence in Indonesia grows, Makasi’s founder Dan Unsworth and his wife Lisa believe it’s important to give something back by supporting their employees’ local communities, and on a buying trip to Bali last year they visited a local school to donate some much-needed supplies. Humbled by the excited appreciation of children and staff, Dan and Lisa were inspired to do more to help.
So, after discussions with the headmistress, they have since donated bookcases, books and cushions to create a quiet reading area in three classrooms for the children to enjoy, along with three laptops for educational use. They recently visited the school again to see them all in action and are already talking to the headmistress about their next project!
