Over 25 years, Something Different has grown from a small venture into a leading name in the wholesale giftware industry. CEO and founder Jane Wallace-Jones began Something Different at a car boot sale in the early 1990s. With a keen eye for giftware and a passion for great service, she then moved into the world of daily markets, occupying units in several locations across South Wales.

As time passed, Jane developed an interest in becoming a wholesaler, and in 1999 she took on a 5,000sq ft warehouse. She bought stock in bulk from other importers and manufacturers, held it in the warehouse, and used it to supply her chain of market stalls. The Something Different ecommerce website was also launched in 1999. It was an overnight success, and the business began to experience rapid growth.
Today, the company is recognised as one of the largest giftware suppliers and importers in the UK, stocking more than 3,000 products in multiple warehouses and supplying over 25,000 customers worldwide.
From the very beginning, Something Different’s mission was to provide retailers with a wide array of items to suit customers of all interests. An in-house creative team designs 80% of its products, and a team of buyers works closely with their trusted supply chain to bring these products to retailers at competitive prices.
Something Different has achieved a lot over the years, including expanding its warehouse space, employing 81 staff, launching a dropship website, improving its sustainability efforts, offering seven-day dispatch, and so much more.
