Talking Tables celebrates 25 years of trading

Talking Tables 25th
Founder Clare Harris

Design-led table and party products supplier Talking Tables proudly marks its milestone 25th anniversary this year – with the aim to also generate £25 million in revenue.

Since it was founded in 1999, the company has transformed from a kitchen table start-up into an award-winning international powerhouse under the leadership of founder Clare Harris.

Winner of a prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise last year, last month Clare was named among the top 100 UK women in business by E2E, in association with  the Independent.

Billed as first firm to design and produce a fully recyclable paper cup, Talking Tables has become a go-to brand for innovative and sustainable products that add fun and style to every occasion. And this year, despite strong economic headwinds, the brand is aiming for an annual turnover of £25 million to match its 25 years.

“From starting out at my kitchen table and hand-delivering party poppers to becoming a global brand, we’ve always stayed true to our mission of creating products that bring people together and help make celebrations unforgettable”

Reflecting on a quarter of a century in business, Clare said: “It’s been a wonderful 25 years. Bringing people together has always been at the heart of everything I do. Whether that’s socially around a table, or commercially in a meeting room, my aim is to create those magic moments.

“From starting out at my kitchen table and hand-delivering party poppers to becoming a global brand, we’ve always stayed true to our mission of creating products that bring people together and help make celebrations unforgettable.”

As Talking Tables celebrates this significant anniversary, it looks forward to the next 25 years with a steadfast commitment to creativity, quality, and sustainability, and has an ambitious plan to grow the company even further.

Talking Tables was certified as a B Corp brand in 2023, and 98% of its most recent collection is single-use plastic free. It uses FSC-certified paper and card stock and organic cotton in its products, has a Fairtrade collection which supports a female collective in Nepal, and partners with Ecologi to plant trees for every email sign up and on staff birthdays.

In March Talking Tables pledged to donate product to a community gathering for each item sold through our website. The company said: ‘We understand the social and mental health benefits of bringing people together, and want to help those with less opportunity to do so. That’s why we partner with local and national charities to help put an end to social isolation. We believe in the positive benefits of coming together and celebrating an occasion – however big or small. But we recognise that not everyone has the same opportunity to do so. That’s why we’re making a commitment to donate a product for each and every order made on our website to a community gathering.’
