The Somerset Toiletry Company (TSTC) is celebrating its silver anniversary, and wants to give a little something back. So, the body care and home fragrance supplier is completing 25 acts of kindness for local charities and organisations close to its hearts. All the teams across TSTC, including those in its head office, warehouse, The Soap Bar Café (located at its HQ in Clutton), and soap factory are taking part.
Progress so far includes:
1. Dog Walking with Mutts with Friends
In January Lisa (marketing manager) started walking rescue dogs for Mutts with Friends, a non-profit dog rescue operating in the Chew Valley and surrounding areas of Bristol and Bath.
2. Prickles Hedgehogs Rescue Fundraiser
During February half-term The Soap Bar Café held a fundraiser for Prickles Hedgehog Rescue centre in Cheddar. The event raised £282 in total.
3. Donations to Bristol charities
In February Brett (CEO) , Zantore (associate director) and Daisy (marketing executive) headed into Bristol to donate toiletries to three charities: Bristol’s Help The Homeless, The Salvation Army, and Aid Box Community (ABC).
4. Lizzies Soup Run
At the end of February, baker Jaz from The Soap Bar Café cooked 45 meals for Lizzie’s Soup Run to support vulnerable people in Bath. Lisa then delivered Macaroni Cheese to some very grateful people on the city’s streets.
5. Anti Banquet Charity Dinner
In February, Sakina (chairman) attended the Anti Banquet Charity Dinner. The evening raised over £100,000 for food initiatives and charities in Bristol.
6. Temple Cloud Cricket Team Kit Sponsor
This year, The Soap Bar Café is sponsoring the Temple Cloud Cricket Team‘s Under 11s and Under 13s kits.
7. Soap Donations in Bath
In May, Lisa and Daisy spent a morning delivering hundreds of soaps to some organisations in Bath, including Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust (AWP), Julian House, Genesis Trust, and Youth Connect Southwest.
8. Helping on an Alpaca Farm
Recently, some of the team visited Cadbury Alpacas, an ethical farm near Bristol, and helped the local business build a roundhouse for its alpacas.
9. Ride The Night – London
In May, Sakina joined over 1,000 women to ride 50 kilometres through the streets of London at night. Together they raised over £1,000 for various cancer charities.
10. Purpl Disabled Discounts
TSTC partnered with Purpl, which contributes a portion of its revenue to disabled charities.
11. Chew Valley 10k
In June, June, Lisa, Daisy and David (head of UK distribution sales) ran the Chew Valley 10k to raise money for BillyChip and raised £700 between them for this charity.
12. Beach Clean Up
Some of the team took to the shores of Weston-Super-Mare for a beach clean up alongside Visit Somerset and The Grand Pier.
13. Ruth Strauss Foundation
TSTC recently created a Limited Edition Soap Bar for players taking part in Rock for Ruth: a fundraising event arranged by the Ruth Strauss Foundation. In July, Zantore, Brett, Sakina, and Xavier visited the Red for Ruth event at Lords Cricket Ground to help fundraise for the Ruth Strauss Foundation. A grand total of £311,000 was raised during this event.
14. Charity Skydive
Daisy, Xavier, Alex and Vix (private label team) took the plunge in a charity skydive for four charities, and raised a total of over £2,600. These charities are Time is Precious, Throat Cancer Foundation, Alzheimers Research UK, and Headway.
15. Clutton Flower Show
TSTC sponsored the Clutton Flower Show, organised by the Clutton Horticultural Society.
16. Team Walk
In September, the team spent an afternoon with Mutts with Friends, walking 7km around Chew Valley to raise awareness of this local dog rescue.
17. SWALLOW Charity Soap
TSTC announced its soap collaboration with SWALLOW Charity. The soap is available to purchase online for £6.95, with £5 from every bar donated directly to the charity.
18. Breast Cancer Now Fundraiser
On October 18 TSTC hosted a ‘Wear it Pink’ fundraiser in support of Breast Cancer Awareness and raised £130 for Breast Cancer Now!
19. St Peters Hospice Raffle
Zantore delivered a special hamper of goodies to St Peters Hospice in Bristol for its Christmas raffle.
20. Diabetes Raffle
For number 20 of ‘25 for 25’, the company is raising money for the Diabetes UK Mendip Support Group.
